Second Century Studios Co-op Art Space Opens
The city of Clearwater’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) recently held the grand opening of Second Century Studios, 331 Cleveland St., Suite A, a community art space highlighting major urban planning initiatives and also featuring artwork created by local artists.
The grand opening was held on Fri., Sept. 29 and the studio is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It will also open on weekday and weekend evenings during special events in Downtown Clearwater.
Second Century Studios offers an opportunity for the city of Clearwater to promote the initiatives designed to help create an attractive and engaging Downtown Clearwater for years to come. Through a partnership with Bazaar Art, LLC it also gives an opportunity to showcase local art that celebrates Clearwater and allows the public to interact with the artists as they produce their latest artistic work.
The city of Clearwater’s CRA will host the Second Century Clearwater exhibit at the studio to showcase, introduce and educate the public to initiatives designed to enhance Downtown Clearwater. The exhibit promotes several downtown initiatives:
- Imagine Clearwater, a master plan designed to revitalize the downtown Clearwater waterfront.
- North Marina Master Plan, a design plan to enhance the Seminole Boat Ramp and attract commercial, retail, restaurants and more residential north of downtown Clearwater.
- Cleveland Streetscape Phase 3, a project aimed at enhancing Cleveland Street in downtown Clearwater into a pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly street.
- Mercado/Market District, a concept to create a market area and community gathering place with local vendors, weekend markets, music shows and movie nights all in Clearwater’s Downtown Gateway.
The space is an inviting place to view artwork and planning initiatives. This month’s exhibition, entitled “All That Jazz”, explores and celebrates jazz and the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Festival featuring local artists whose artwork captures the essence of music and the historic concerts at Clearwater’s Coachman Park.
In addition, the Second Century Studios is exhibiting the banner of each Clearwater Jazz Holiday poster that has been designed to promote each event since the first Clearwater Jazz Holiday concert in 1979.
